Voice actor Kevin Afghani has announced via social media he will provide the voices for both Mario and Luigi in the upcoming game Super Mario Bros. Wonder by Nintendo. He expressed deep pride and gratitude for being invited to participate in creating the new game. Afghani has previously lent his talents to the Dragon Ball R&R series as Raditz, and Genshin Impact as Arnold. His ongoing involvement in future Mario and Luigi roles remains unclear.

This announcement comes shortly after Charles Martinet, who had been the voice of Mario since the early 90s starting with Super Mario 64, confirmed he would no longer continue in the role. Martinet had provided voices for different Mario-related characters over the years, including Luigi and Wario, however, he did not divulge a reason for his decision to step down.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2D platformer that promises a unique look different from the New Super Mario Bros. series and introduces an item named the Wonder Flower, which triggers various exciting in-game events. For example, it can bring pipes to life or completely change the characters' appearances! New to the franchise, a power-up can transform Mario into Elephant-Mario. In addition to Mario, players can also choose characters like Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, and Luigi. The game is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch platform on October 20.
