Is The Witcher 3 Switching to Next-Gen CD Projekt Dodges

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to release on June 5, 2025. However, the developer has not yet announced whether The Witcher 3 will receive an upgrade for the new console. In a recent statement, game designer Filip Downar expressed excitement about the Nintendo collaboration and highlighted new features being implemented for Cyberpunk 2077, such as motion controls and gyroscope support. Downar mentioned the positive turnaround in player reception since the game's troubled launch, noting that the team is eager to introduce the game to a new audience on the Switch 2. With over 25 million copies sold of Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty, achieving three million in its first week, CD Projekt Red is also working on a sequel.

As of now, CD Projekt Red has not confirmed an upgrade for The Witcher 3 on the Nintendo Switch 2, focusing instead on Cyberpunk 2077 for the console's launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 originally faced severe challenges at launch in December 2020, leading to many refunds and its temporary removal from the PlayStation Store. However, subsequent patches and expansions have significantly improved the game, making it a noteworthy title in the open-world RPG genre. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released on the original Nintendo Switch, was well-received, highlighting CD Projekt Red's successful adaptation of complex narratives to handheld platforms.
