iron fist actor pushes for heroes for hire with luke cage

Jul 05, 2024 4:33 PM

Finn Jones, actor behind Marvel's Iron Fist, has expressed a strong desire to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and partner with Mike Colter's Luke Cage for a Heroes for Hire series. Despite the cancellation of Iron Fist in 2018, Jones believes there is untapped potential for his character's development. Speaking at Heroes Dutch Comic Con, Jones highlighted the potential chemistry and engaging stories that could emerge from a team-up between Iron Fist and Luke Cage, referencing the Heroes for Hire comic storyline where the duo offers their superhero services for a fee. Although the likelihood of either character's show returning is currently low, Marvel has indicated some promise by integrating Netflix's Marvel shows into the MCU, including Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Defenders, and The Punisher. The MCU is already working on continuing Daredevil's story with the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, featuring Charlie Cox, who has already appeared in films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and the series Echo.

Will Iron Fist and Luke Cage get their own series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

While there has been no official announcement about a standalone Heroes for Hire series featuring Iron Fist and Luke Cage, Finn Jones's enthusiasm and Marvel's recent actions suggest there is some potential for their return. However, as of now, any new series remains speculative.

Iron Fist and Luke Cage, characters from Marvel Comics, have a rich history in the narrative of street-level superheroism. Created in the 1970s, both characters eventually formed a partnership known as Heroes for Hire. They became popular for taking on threats that were more grounded and urban compared to the cosmic and world-ending scenarios frequently dealt with by other Marvel superheroes. The characters gained renewed popularity with their Netflix series, which were part of Marvel's television universe before being integrated into the broader MCU.

Finn Jones's enthusiasm to revive Iron Fist alongside Luke Cage for a Heroes for Hire series is pretty intriguing, especially given the potential chemistry and gritty storytelling they could bring to the MCU. Although it's all speculative right now, the idea sure has a lot of fans excited for what could be a fresh street-level saga in Marvel's ever-expanding universe.

Given the buzz and Marvel's track record of reviving beloved characters, a Heroes for Hire series could bring a whole new dynamic to street-level superhero storytelling in the MCU. Let’s be real, the chemistry between Finn Jones and Mike Colter would be electric, and who wouldn't want to see them kick some serious butt together

It's awesome to see Finn Jones's passion for reprising his role as Iron Fist and teaming up with Luke Cage; their dynamic in the comics was legendary. While it's all speculation for now, Marvel's willingness to bring back beloved characters like Daredevil gives me hope for a potential Heroes for Hire series in the future
