Insomniac labels the hypothetical third Spider-Man game as 'fairly epic'

Oct 23, 2023 3:05 PM

The Creative Director of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Bryan Intihar, recently teased the possibility of a third installment, terming it as "pretty epic". In his appearance on the Friends Per Second podcast, Intihar paralleled the previous Spider-Man games by Insomniac with Marvel Cinematic Universe films, and alluded to the hypothetical third installment. "If Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales are our Iron Man, and Spider-Man 2 is like Civil War, how do we follow that? I think it can be quite epic. But we'll see", he said. Intihar did not confirm if Insomniac Games will create a Spider-Man 3, but his statement indicates that this is under consideration.

Released last Friday for PlayStation 5, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales playing crucial roles. Players can switch between the two heroes who have new moves, and not just explore Manhattan, but also Queens and Brooklyn. Sony confirmed that within the first 24 hours of release, Spider-Man 2 was sold more than 2.5 million times, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game to date. Spider-Man 2 is a textbook sequel. It offers more of everything that worked so well in the previous parts. This results in an incredibly good and fluid playable game packed full of fun, but Insomniac often makes the safest choices, which means the game rarely surprises", praised reviewer Erik Nusselder.

Insomniac announced earlier this week that New Game Plus and the ability to replay missions will be added later in an update. However, some reports surfaced this weekend that some individuals who purchased a physical version of the game encountered installation issues, primarily in Europe.
