Insomniac games allegedly hit by cyber attack

Dec 13, 2023 9:14 AM

Insomniac Games, known for the recent hit Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has reportedly suffered a cybersecurity breach. Hacker group Rhysida allegedly leaked personal employee information, including details about voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, and images from the upcoming Wolverine game. The hackers have given Insomniac a seven-day ultimatum to pay an unspecified ransom or risk having more sensitive data released to the public. They are also auctioning off the stolen data on their website. Sony, which owns Insomniac, is currently investigating the breach and has no evidence to believe that other Sony studios have been compromised. The situation highlights ongoing security concerns within the video game industry.

Has Insomniac Games responded to the cyberattack?

As of the information provided, there hasn't been an official statement from Insomniac Games regarding the cyberattack. Sony is investigating the incident.

Ah man, it's really a bummer to hear about Insomniac getting hit with a cyberattack, especially with personal employee info getting leaked. This situation goes to show that no matter how big the studio, maintaining cyber security is superhero-level important in the gaming biz.
