Horror Classic 'The Thing' Gets Epic Remaster from Nightdive

Nightdive Studios has announced the remastering of "The Thing" video game, a continuation of the 1982 John Carpenter horror classic. "The Thing: Remastered" is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch later in 2024. The upgraded version will feature 4K resolution, enhanced textures, animations, and advanced 3D rendering for lighting and atmospheric effects. Nightdive Studios, known for its quality revivals of Star Wars: Dark Forces and System Shock, is collaborating with Universal Products & Experiences. Players will step into the role of Captain J.F. Blake, tasked with investigating the horrifying events at U.S. Outpost #31 while managing fear and paranoia within the squad.

What features are included in the remastered version of The Thing?n

The remastered version includes upgraded character models, improved textures, enhanced animations, advanced 3D rendering for lighting and atmospheric effects, 4K 120FPS visuals on current-generation devices, and Trophies and Achievements on multiple platforms. Players will also command a squad of NPCs across 11 levels, maintaining trust and managing fear to survive.

"The Thing" video game originally released in 2002 builds on the narrative of the 1982 John Carpenter film, widely regarded as a horror masterpiece. The remaster aims to honor both the film and the original game by enhancing the horror experience with modern graphics and mechanics. Nightdive Studios continues its strong presence in the revival market, with upcoming projects including "System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition" and "SiN Reloaded".
