The CEO of Grove Street Games has expressed dissatisfaction over recent updates to the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition that removed mentions of the studio from the game's start-up screens. Although Grove Street Games is still credited in the end credits, the updates prompted a significant backlash. The update aimed to address various issues within the trilogy, which had initially launched in poor condition. Williamson criticized the removal as "a dick move," highlighting the irony of stripping away developer credits from a game that benefited from their extensive fixes over the years.

Why were developer credits removed from GTA: The Trilogy?

Developer credits were removed from the start-up screens of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition as part of an update aimed at fixing various issues in the games. While Grove Street Games remains credited in the end credits, the removal of their recognition sparked controversy within the gaming community.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, released by Rockstar Games, faced significant criticism at launch due to numerous bugs and graphical issues, raising questions about the quality of remasters. The trilogy includes classic titles like GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, which are beloved by fans for their open-world gameplay and storytelling innovation. Despite the rocky launch, the game has maintained interest, particularly due to its nostalgic value for longtime players of the series.

It’s a bummer to see credits being pulled, especially when the studio put in the work to fix a messy launch. Props to Grove Street Games for stepping up, and it's a reminder that even in gaming, recognition matters

It's wild to see the developer recognition drama unfold, especially for a franchise as iconic as GTA. Removing credits feels a bit like biting the hand that helped fix a broken game—definitely not the best way to handle PR

It's a bummer to see Grove Street Games get sidelined like that—recognition matters, especially for a team that helped salvage a troubled release. At the end of the day, if you’re going to overhaul a classic, it’s important to acknowledge everyone who plays a part in making it better.
