Gaming Monitors Reach Insane Speeds at Computex 2025

May 19, 2025 9:08 PM

At Computex 2025, several cutting-edge gaming monitors were announced, with the Asus ROG Strix Ace XG248QSG leading the pack with an extraordinary 610Hz refresh rate at 1080p. Both MSI and Acer also unveiled impressive 1440p displays, each boasting 500Hz refresh rates. Notably, Acer's Predator X27U F5 offers a QD-OLED screen promising vibrant color accuracy. While the Predator X27U F5 will initially launch in Europe and China, its US release remains uncertain due to tariff negotiations. Additionally, MSI's MPG 271QR X50 is equipped with an innovative AI feature that automatically shuts off the display to prevent burn-in, a common issue in OLED technology. As gaming monitor technology continues to advance rapidly, the question arises: do gaming monitors truly need such high refresh rates?

Do gaming monitors need to be this fast?

While extremely high refresh rates can provide a competitive edge by minimizing input lag, the necessity of such speeds largely depends on individual gaming preferences and hardware capabilities. Most gamers might not require refresh rates exceeding 144Hz, especially if they lack the hardware to support those frame rates effectively.

Established as a leader in the gaming hardware space, ASUS is well-known for its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, which offers high-performance components targeted at competitive players. With the advent of super-high refresh rate monitors, gamers are looking to optimize their setups to achieve seamless gameplay experiences, especially in fast-paced titles that demand precise responses.
