Mar 06, 2024 10:25 AM

Fans of the iconic fighting game series, Mortal Kombat, are in for a treat this coming weekend as Mortal Kombat 1 becomes temporarily free-to-play. The game will be available at no cost starting from Thursday evening until Monday morning, offering gamers access to all multiplayer modes along with the first two chapters of the single-player campaign. Despite the free version including the full roster of characters, DLC characters will not be available for the trial.

PC players can access the game through Steam, whereas PS5 users will need PlayStation Plus, and Xbox Series X/S owners can only play it if they have Xbox Game Pass. Players interested in Mortal Kombat's intense and gory action can take advantage of this offer and keep any progress they make should they decide to purchase the full game later on.

In addition to the free play event, Mortal Kombat has introduced a new DLC character, Peacemaker, portrayed by John Cena, the same as in the TV series. Moreover, the game has been updated to include cross-play functionality. Mortal Kombat has been praised for staying true to its roots with accessible gameplay, over-the-top characters, and its signature bloody combat.
