Fortnite recently experienced its 'biggest day' in history, with over 44.7 million players participating in the game, playing for a combined total of over 102 million hours, as announced by Fortnite's X account on Twitter
According to Fortnite.GG, the unofficial but reliable stat website, Fortnite also witnessed its highest concurrent player count ever on November 4th, with more than six million players actively playing at once
The attention comes during Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG, which takes players to Fortnite's original island, featuring aspects from Battle Royale's past, such as Shopping Carts and ATKs, as well as the Assault Rifle and Pump Shotgun
On the other hand, Epic Games, Fortnite's parent company, has announced that it will be laying off 830 of its employees, which is 16% of the workforce
The CEO, Sweeny, mentioned that the company has been spending more than it has been earning for a while now, investing heavily in the evolution of Epic and the growth of Fortnite making it unrealistic to avoid layoffs
Sweeny also noted that Fortnite's resumed growth is primarily driven by creator content that significantly shares revenue, which is a lower margin business model than what they had when Fortnite Battle Royale initially sparked their expansion
