Flappy Bird Returns After 10 Years: What to Expect Now

Sep 12, 2024 1:53 PM

The iconic mobile game Flappy Bird is making a comeback after a decade since its original creator pulled it from stores. The Flappy Bird Foundation, a new team dedicated to reviving the game, has acquired the trademark and rights to the game. The return is set for late October 2024, featuring an expanded version with new modes and characters. Unlike the original, this new iteration is not helmed by creator Dong Nguyen, who had previously cited his discontent with the game's success. The team, including collaborators from the original inspiration Piou Piou, is aiming to deliver an engaging experience for both new and returning players.

When is the new Flappy Bird releasing?

The new enhanced version of Flappy Bird is scheduled to launch by the end of October 2024, with plans for a mobile release in 2025.

Flappy Bird, launched in 2013 by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen, quickly became a viral sensation due to its simple yet addictive gameplay. Despite its success, Nguyen removed it from digital platforms in 2014, citing the negative impact of fame on his life. The game's minimalistic design and challenging mechanics left a lasting legacy, influencing numerous other mobile games in the following years. With its return, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and new features that aim to reinvigorate the gaming experience.
