The upcoming movie based on the popular video game, "Five Nights at Freddy’s", will not be getting an R-rated version, according to the film's director Emma Tammi. In an interview with Forbes, Tammi expressed satisfaction with the film's PG-13 tone, remarking that it felt like the ideal fit for this particular adaptation. Tammi also noted the expectation from fans for an R-rated version, acknowledging the disappointment that might arise from this decision but emphasizing the need to cater to a younger audience.

"Five Nights at Freddy’s" revolves around the player facing a terrifying group of animatronic creatures after taking a late-night job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Despite demands from fans for a more violent cut, Tammi clarified that the film also wished to retain its young viewership. She affirmed the presence of elements that maintained a sense of darkness, and that similar themes were on display through implied, not explicit, violence.

In response to speculation about potential footage for a darker, more violent director’s cut, Tammi stated there might not be enough material to make it viable. She reaffirmed the importance they had placed on restricting the film to a PG-13 rating from the production stage, while delivering adequate scares for the audience and implying violence where necessary.
