Production has begun on HBO's highly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set in Belfast, Ireland. Starring Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, the series showcases the adventures of Dunk and Egg, set a century before the events of Game of Thrones. The show highlights the Targaryen era when the Iron Throne was still under their control. The newly revealed cast includes Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Tanzyn Crawford, Daniel Ings, and Sam Spruell, portraying various notable characters. Directed by Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith, the series is expected to premiere in late 2025 with hopes for a three-season run.

Who stars in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?

Peter Claffey stars as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell portrays Egg. The cast also includes Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on The Hedge Knight, part of George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg stories. These tales follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg (Aegon V Targaryen) as they navigate the complexities of Westeros. This series offers fans a deeper glimpse into the Targaryen dynasty and events preceding the beloved Game of Thrones series, allowing for richer storytelling and expanded character arcs.
