Fallout TV Show Unveils Interactive Google Earth Vault Map

Apr 15, 2024 9:35 AM

Fallout fans and map enthusiasts can now explore a detailed interactive map of vault locations from Amazon's Fallout TV show, thanks to the efforts of a Fallout content creator, Tunnelsnakesfool. This passionate geographer has taken a map seen in the show's final episode and plotted all the vaults onto Google Earth. Hardcore fans can access the map by downloading a KML file from Tunnelsnakesfool's Discord channel, allowing an immersive experience in identifying the specific state and city locations of each vault on the map.

Another prominent member of the Fallout community, Adam Whitehead, also known as Werthead, has updated his extensive map of Fallout's vaults with the new information. The TV show-inspired additions are highlighted in blue, as their existence beyond planned construction has not been confirmed. This updated mapping effort fascinatingly aligns with the vault numbers mentioned in the non-canon Fallout Bible and expands the Fallout universe's lore, even including vaults in Mexico and Canada.

How do you explore the Fallout TV show's vault map?

You can explore the vault map by downloading the KML file provided by Tunnelsnakesfool on their Discord server and using it as an overlay in Google Earth.

The Fallout franchise, originating from the 1997 video game by Interplay Entertainment, has expanded into a significant cultural phenomenon across various media, including games, merchandise, and now a television show. The original game set a precedent for post-apocalyptic role-playing games and developed a dedicated fanbase. Continuations of the series by Bethesda after acquiring the rights have been celebrated for their open-world exploration and rich storytelling. Amazon's adaptation of Fallout into a TV series signifies the enduring popularity of the universe and its expansion into mainstream entertainment.
