In an unexpected development, former senior VP of story and franchise development at Blizzard, Chris Metzen, has returned to the company after a seven-year hiatus.

Having retired in 2016, after almost 23 years with Blizzard, Metzen seems to have reconsidered his retirement life. The announcement of his comeback, disclosed on a social media platform referred to here as X (formerly known as Twitter), revealed that Metzen has taken up the role of executive creative director for the Warcraft universe.

Currently, he is fully engaged in plotting out the upcoming array of adventures for World of Warcraft. Metzen is slated to reveal some intriguing details about this much-anticipated project at BlizzCon 2023, which is scheduled to occur in November.
