Dragon’s Dogma 2 to Receive Exciting New Features in Future Patch

Mar 25, 2024 11:03 AM

Capcom has announced upcoming updates for "Dragon's Dogma 2," addressing major player concerns and enhancing gameplay elements. Noteworthy is the new feature allowing players to start a new game with existing save data, responding to feedback from the community. This update is particularly anticipated as the functionality was missing upon release, leaving modders to fill the void on PC. The patch also includes the increase of Art of Metamorphosis items available to 99, which are used for character edits and were previously sold as day-one microtransactions.

For console gamers, Capcom is adding graphics and performance options on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, including a motion blur toggle, ray tracing, and a frame-rate cap of 30fps. Dragon's Dogma 2 has faced criticism for PC performance issues, exacerbated by the in-game CPU stress from managing numerous NPCs. While Capcom points out current proposed graphical changes won't significantly boost frame rates, they assure players substantial improvements will be implemented in the foreseeable future.

Fans can expect these patches to be released across platforms as soon as they are ready. Despite the issues, "Dragon's Dogma 2" has had an impressive PC launch on Steam, achieving a peak of 228,585 concurrent players over its launch weekend. Players are advised to consult IGN's interactive map, walkthroughs, and guides for further help navigating the game.

Additional updates spanning all platforms include:n- Earlier availability of the quest for acquiring a personal dwelling in-gamen- Misc text display and bug fixesnFor Steam users, improvements when DLSS Super Resolution is enabled, and fixes for low-quality model renderings under certain settings, are also expected.

What is the Dragon's Dogma 2 update focused on?

The update is focused on implementing a new game start option, increasing the availability of Art of Metamorphosis items, adding graphics and performance options on next-gen consoles, fixing bugs, and improving in-game text. It also aims to address the frame-rate issues, especially on PC, and improve DLSS Super Resolution quality on Steam.

"Dragon's Dogma," initially released in 2012, quickly garnered a cult following due to its blend of open-world exploration, real-time combat, and the unique "Pawn" system. The series has been praised for its innovative gameplay mechanics and dark fantasy setting. Its sequel, "Dragon's Dogma 2," builds upon this foundation, expanding the universe and mechanics, which has evidently led to great anticipation and robust player engagement at launch. The commitment from Capcom to address and resolve launch issues while boosting performance and gameplay shows an investment in the game's long-term success and community satisfaction.
