DEAD ISLAND 2's Latest DLC Transports You to a Bloody California Music Fest

Mar 22, 2024 8:13 PM

The upcoming second DLC for Dead Island 2, titled "Beware the Beat," is set to launch on April 17 and will take players to a Californian music festival overrun by the undead. The SoLA music festival, initially a bohemian gathering, becomes the scene of a zombie outbreak caused by a mysterious virus known as the Autophage. Players will explore the festival's open arenas, featuring stages, stalls, and VIP areas, while contending with new characters, including transformed festival-goers and a sinister presence called the beat of the Autophage.

The DLC promises to enrich Dead Island 2 with a new story, a grotesque location echoing the sounds of a deadly beat, new terrifying enemies such as the Whipper and Clotter, and novel legendary weapons including the Ripper and Sawblade Launcher. Notably, the Ripper combines a baseball bat with a circular saw, while the Sawblade Launcher offers a unique twist on ranged zombie combat. Dead Island 2 is available across various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC through the Epic Games Store, and will also reach Steam users on April 22.

What new enemies will players encounter in Dead Island 2's "Beware the Beat" DLC?

In the "Beware the Beat" DLC for Dead Island 2, players will encounter two new apex enemies: the Whipper and the Clotter. The Whipper is a zombie that has turned into a nightmare creature capable of lashing out at range due to its self-mutilation and disemboweled intestines. The Clotter, another formidable foe, can decompose into a pile of gore to evade damage and then reform to continue attacking, with the ability to shoot a jet of putrid blood from its heart.

Background on Dead Island 2: Dead Island 2 is a highly anticipated sequel in the Dead Island franchise, an action role-playing survival horror game set in an open world overrun by zombies. Developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver, the game promises a combination of dark humor and visceral combat with customizable melee weapons. Set in various locations across Los Angeles, which are now filled with hordes of zombies, players must use their wits, skills, and arsenal to survive the undead apocalypse.
