Dead Island 2 joins Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate

Feb 22, 2024 3:18 PM

The highly anticipated survival horror sequel, Dead Island 2, has finally been made available for Xbox console gamers through Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, as announced by publisher Plaion. Unfortunately for PC gamers, the title has not been released on PC Game Pass. Coming off a successful release period where the game sold over a million copies within 72 hours of launch and doubled its sales in just a month, becoming Deep Silver's best-selling title, Dead Island 2's entry to the Game Pass library follows its previous temporary free-to-play period via Xbox Free Play Days. The title, which has been in development for over 11 years, officially released on April 21, 2023, and is available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

Recent updates mentioned Microsoft's reveal of the new titles for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass games for the latter half of February 2024. Fans of the franchise and Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now delve into the zombie-infested open world of Dead Island 2 as part of their subscription.

Is Dead Island 2 available on PC Game Pass?

As of the latest update, Dead Island 2 is not available on PC Game Pass but is accessible to players on Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.

Dead Island 2 is the sequel to 2011's Dead Island, which was known for its unique combination of first-person action with a heavy emphasis on melee combat and an immersive island setting plagued by zombies. The original game gained a cult following for its gritty atmosphere, cooperative gameplay, and the freedom to explore a vacation paradise gone horribly wrong. With Dead Island 2's release, fans have been eagerly expecting an evolution of the series' formula, enhanced by modern graphics and new gameplay mechanics, as it continues the story in a new setting, the city of Los Angeles, now also infested by zombies. The sequel is expected to uphold the franchise's signature mix of dark humor and gore within its open-world RPG elements, providing both new and returning players an upgraded zombie-slaying adventure.
