Cyberpunk mod's love nests inspire CDPR's update 2.1

Jan 25, 2024 4:29 PM

Is Cyberpunk 2077 still being updated?

Cyberpunk 2077's last major update, Update 2.1, introduced significant new features to the game such as a metro system, the ability to listen to the radio on foot, and the option for characters to engage in romantic hangouts at V's apartment. However, the game is set to receive additional content, including quest modifications from the modding community.

In a striking example of life imitating art, a Cyberpunk 2077 modder named Deceptious (Phil Wright) created mods that allowed romantic partners to visit V's apartments, providing continued engagement past the initial romance questlines. This feature was later officially added to the game by CD Projekt in the Update 2.1. The modder has expressed flattery and a sense of accomplishment at seeing their mod concepts being adopted officially, thereby validating their work. Deceptious, who is known for their expertise in creating quest mods for Cyberpunk 2077, is currently finalizing a mod for decorating V's apartments with art related to the game. While these developments unfold, CD Projekt Red has dismissed speculation about being acquired by a larger corporation.

The modder's journey in enhancing the Cyberpunk 2077 experience began with identifying and reverse-engineering elements from the game, utilizing crucial modding tools from the community. The positive reception of Deceptious' mods and their subsequent official implementation is a testament to the creativity and skills of the modding community, further enriching Cyberpunk 2077's immersive world.

Cyberpunk 2077 was launched in December 2020 by CD Projekt Red and, despite a rocky start with technical issues, has undergone numerous updates to improve its performance and gameplay. Notably, the game also has an expansion on the horizon titled Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, which is anticipated by fans seeking new adventures in the futuristic world of Night City.
