cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod skyrockets after test success

Jul 08, 2024 1:52 PM

The Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod, named CyberMP, is gaining popularity after a successful playtest that saw 20 players roaming Night City together. This test, led by a single developer and featuring YouTuber JuiceHead, showcased stable multiplayer gameplay despite lacking proper animations and quests. While this mod isn't as comprehensive as GTA Online, it demonstrates smooth performance with minimal issues like lag or player teleportation. Although quest support is not planned for the mod's full release, its ongoing development may include additional features, driven by the community. Official multiplayer content for Cyberpunk 2077 may still appear in future projects by CD Projekt. The game's initial multiplayer plans were shelved following a rocky launch, with focus shifted to resolving core game issues.

Will Cyberpunk 2077 get an official multiplayer mode?

While the current mod CyberMP is gaining traction, there is no confirmed official multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077. However, CD Projekt has not ruled out the possibility of including multiplayer features in its sequel or future projects.

Cyberpunk 2077, developed by CD Projekt Red, had a highly anticipated release in December 2020. Despite its troubled launch due to numerous bugs and performance issues on last-gen consoles, the game has sold millions of copies and received several updates. The recent announcement of an expansion, Phantom Liberty, continues to generate interest as CD Projekt Red works on delivering a more polished experience.
