CD Projekt Will Stick to Its Niche: AAA Open-World RPGs

CD Projekt Red, the renowned developer behind The Witcher series, emphasized its commitment to specializing in AAA RPGs and open-world narrative-driven games. Co-founder Marcin Iwiński and joint-CEO Adam Badowski discussed their strategic focus during the AnsweRed podcast. They acknowledged the temptations to explore various gaming styles but confirmed that honing in on their successful niche has proven effective. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt achieving impressive sales of 60 million copies, the studio is dedicated to expanding this franchise. Notably, a new patch is set to introduce cross-platform mod support, enhancing the gameplay experience. Furthermore, The Witcher 4 is officially in production, scheduled for a 2027 release alongside other projects including Cyberpunk 2 and a remake of The Witcher 1.

The upcoming patch for The Witcher 3 will introduce cross-platform mod support, allowing players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S to create and share mods for the first time, significantly improving accessibility and enjoyment of the game.
