CD Projekt, the developer behind the sci-fi role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, has settled a class action lawsuit related to the game's troubled launch. The lawsuit, which began in 2020, claimed that the company misled investors about the game's playability on last-gen console platforms like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Without admitting any wrongdoing, the developer has agreed to a $1.85 million settlement to conclude the legal disputes.

Despite the rocky start, Cyberpunk 2077 has made a significant turnaround with continuous updates and improvements over the last few years. Its latest success, the Phantom Liberty expansion, along with the substantial Update 2.0, have been well-received by players and critics alike, earning high praise and restoring fan faith in the game. An Ultimate Edition that bundles all updates and DLCs is set to release in December 2023.

The Phantom Liberty expansion was released in September and accompanied by Update 2.0, which introduced a new perk system, enhanced AI, and additional content that resolved fan theories and added depth to the game's lore. The Cyberpunk 2077 saga, marked by its initial downfall and subsequent redemption, highlights the potential for video games to recover and thrive even after a difficult release.
