Capcom Snubs Frank West's Original Voice for Dead Rising Remaster

Jul 02, 2024 11:54 AM

Capcom's announcement of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has stirred excitement among fans but also some disappointment over the absence of the original Frank West voice actor, Terence J. Rotolo. Despite making enhancements like 4K graphics, 60 FPS support, and quality of life improvements including autosave functionality, Rotolo shared on Instagram that Capcom did not invite him to reprise his role for this remastered version. Although the reasons were not disclosed by the producers, Rotolo expressed his gratitude for having previously brought the character to life. The game is set to launch on September 18, 2024, and uses Capcom's RE Engine to deliver these updates.

Why is Terence J. Rotolo not returning as Frank West in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?

Terence J. Rotolo stated that he was not contacted by Capcom for the remaster and noted that the reasons are known only to the producers. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity he had and professionalism about not being called for this project.

Dead Rising is a beloved franchise originally released in 2006, known for its blend of survival horror and action-adventure gameplay. The protagonist, Frank West, is a photojournalist trapped in a shopping mall overrun by zombies. The game's sandbox environment, numerous weapons, and creative ways to defeat zombies have cemented its place as a classic in the genre. The remastered version aims to enhance the gaming experience for long-time fans and new players alike.
