Blizzard Unveils Major Overhaul for Overwatch 2, Loot Boxes Return

Overwatch 2 is set to undergo significant gameplay changes in the upcoming seasons, introducing hero perks, a new game mode called Stadium, and the revival of loot boxes. Starting February 18, Season 15 will implement a perk system, allowing players to select minor and major perks that enhance and alter their heroes' abilities mid-match. Additionally, Stadium mode brings a competitive twist with currency-based upgrades and a third-person perspective for enhanced battlefield awareness. Blizzard is also reintroducing loot boxes, which will be accessible for free and come with transparent odds for items. Other planned changes include hero bans and map voting for competitive play, as well as the introduction of new heroes like Freja and Aqua.
