In a recent development, game developer Blizzard experienced a rather embarrassing setback in its Diablo 4 promotion campaign. On October 13, the company released a video about the upcoming season of Diablo 4, called "Season of Blood", which was unfortunately riddled with errors. The video popped up on popular YouTuber Raxxanterax's radar, who pointed out various errors such as mislabeled dungeon maps, horse speed comparison that incorrectly showed the same speed before and after, and errors in calculating experience point boosts.
Soon afterwards, the video was pulled by Blizzard when the Diablo community started pointing out the array of mistakes. Despite this blunder, the new ‘Season of Blood’ seems promising for Diablo 4, loaded with numerous improvements that could uplift the game's appeal following the initial interest dip post its record-breaking launch in June.
Notably, this error-strewn promotion happened on the same day that Microsoft officially purchased Activision Blizzard for a staggering $69 billion, causing the game and its creator to become part of the Xbox family. It's worth mentioning that fans should not anticipate Diablo 4 on Game Pass this year as Activision Blizzard announced their plan to bring the game, in addition to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, to Microsoft’s subscription service in 2024.
Diablo 4's ‘Season of Blood’ is scheduled to kick off on October 17, coinciding with the game's launch on Steam.
