"Assassin's Creed: Codename Red - Lead based on real Samurai"

Nov 08, 2023 9:45 AM

The upcoming video game from Ubisoft, 'Assassin's Creed: Codename Red,' is said to have one of its main characters modeled after a real historical figure, Yasuke, who was an actual African samurai. This information reportedly comes from Insider Gaming, which previously noted that the game would feature two playable characters: a female shinobi and an African samurai.

In addition to the African samurai, details about the female shinobi character have been revealed. She is named Naoe Fujibayashi, seeking to avenge her father's death. It's suggested that she's the daughter of Fujibayashi Nagato, a historical figure known as one of the three famous ninja.

Ubisoft's future plans for the 'Assassin's Creed' series include a hub called 'Assassin's Creed Infinity,' with 'Codename Red' and 'Codename Hexe' as part of this initiative. 'Codename Red' will be set in ancient Japan. There's also mention of possible artwork for the female shinobi character that appeared on a Ubisoft employee's LinkedIn profile.

Last year, Ubisoft unveiled 'Assassin's Creed: Mirage,' and with the announcement of Infinity, fans of the series can anticipate these new additions that expand the 'Assassin's Creed' universe.
