Excitement builds as Smite 2, a next-generation sequel to the popular third-person multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Smite, has been officially unveiled. Announced at the Smite World Championship, this standalone sequel promises to retain the familiar core gameplay but is being completely remade with Unreal Engine 5. Smite 2 will feature visual enhancements, new animations, effects, gameplay improvements, and updates to the UI and matchmaking system. More strategic depth will be added by removing Physical and Magical Power restrictions, allowing gods to build any item and introducing new Strength and Intelligence stats. Five new gods, including Hecate, will join the roster in the Smite 2 alpha playtest set for Spring 2024. The original game, running since 2014, will continue as a standalone game with regular updates. Smite 2 is poised for release on PC, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, including full crossplay. Signups for the alpha playtest are available now.
