2019 Avengers: Endgame Oddly Foreshadowed Fortnite OG

Nov 06, 2023 6:42 PM

In an uncanny twist, 2019's Avengers: Endgame unwittingly predicted the recent "OG Update" made to Fortnite in 2023. The film saw Korg, a rock warrior, playing on Fortnite's classic map, which didn't exist in real 2023 until Epic Games rolled out the OG update in November, allowing players access to original locations like the Tilted Towers area.

The OG version has been slated to be available for just four weeks, but its soaring popularity might lead to a reconsideration. The number of players increased significantly after the update, giving Fortnite its "biggest day" yet. This revival could be beneficial to Epic Games who recently had to lay off 830 staff due to financial difficulties.

CEO Tim Sweeney has admitted that the game isn't as profitable as it was at its inception but believes the growth spurred by creator content could be promising, despite it being a lower margin business.
