South Park Discord server goes offline immediately after bot and support issues
The official South Park Discord server has reportedly shut down after a bot went offline and Paramount support dried up.
- Volunteers say contact with Paramount and South Park Digital Studios dropped over the past two years from weekly to sometimes six months or more without a reply.
- A Discord bot broke after a policy change, and fixing it would have required personal information the moderators did not want to share.
What happened
Moderators of the official South Park Discord server say the server has been shut down immediately. In their statement, they said the situation became unsustainable because of a mix of poor support, a bot issue, and a lack of help from the rights holders.
According to the moderators, contact with staff at South Park Digital Studios and Paramount declined sharply over the past two years. Where communication had once happened weekly, there were later stretches of six months or longer with no contact at all. The volunteers say they were left effectively responsible for running an official property without consistent support.
In addition, one of the moderation bots went offline after a change to Discord's policy. Getting that bot working again would have required personal information, which the moderators say they did not want to provide because of previous doxxing concerns. They also say they asked Paramount for help but received no response.
The reporting also points to the recent Paramount-Skydance merger as an added complication. A social post from @2206Itssergio described the shutdown of the official South Park server as the result of negligence by South Park Studios and Skydance, while another quoted post said Paramount, as the owner, should have completed the process but did not respond.

Background
