WoW's New Expansion to Include Player Housing at Last

Nov 13, 2024 6:42 PM

World of Warcraft's upcoming expansion, titled Midnight, has officially confirmed the addition of player housing, a highly requested feature among fans. During the recent Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, Blizzard teased player housing without revealing specific details about its mechanics or functionality. This addition has been a long time coming, with many players recalling the failed Garrison feature from the Warlords of Draenor expansion, which lacked the desired flexibility of player housing seen in other MMORPGs. The full unveiling of Midnight is set for late summer 2025, alongside a roadmap of additional content, including remasters and updates for existing games.

What features can we expect from player housing in World of Warcraft: Midnight?

While details remain scarce, player housing in Midnight is expected to focus on customization and a more permanent residence than previous attempts like the Garrison system. Given the popularity of similar features in other games, such as Final Fantasy XIV, it aims to enhance player engagement and community integration.

World of Warcraft has been a cornerstone of the MMORPG genre since its launch in 2004. It has consistently evolved through numerous expansions, introducing new gameplay mechanics and story arcs. The upcoming Midnight expansion will be part of "The Worldsoul Saga," which aims to deepen the lore and player experience further. As player housing gains traction across many MMO titles, Blizzard's decision signals a shift toward more player-oriented features in World of Warcraft.
