World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic Launches Next Month

Apr 10, 2024 10:10 AM

World of Warcraft fans, the wait is almost over! Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up to release World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic on May 20th, with a pre-launch patch hitting the servers on April 30th. The pre-launch patch introduces the ability to create Goblin and Worgen characters and learn Archaeology. Prior to the official launch, players can also expect adjustments to the low-level character areas. Cataclysm, the third expansion of the massively popular MMO, originally shook the world of Azeroth with the return of the antagonist Deathwing, who redefined the game's landscape and quests. Moreover, World of Warcraft's upcoming full-scale expansion, The War Within, is slated to drop sometime in 2024, keeping the community on their toes for more adventure and lore to unfold.

When is World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic set to launch?

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic is set to launch on May 20th, with a pre-launch patch available on April 30th.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm brought significant changes when it was first released back in December 2010. Apart from the introduction of Goblin and Worgen races and the Archaeology profession, the expansion drastically changed the strategy of the game by revamping the original zones with a new storyline. Due to Deathwing's catastrophic return, some zones were permanently altered, which diversified the gameplay and introduced new dynamics for both new and veteran players. Cataclysm Classic aims to reimagine these experiences for current players, promoting nostalgia and perhaps even a renewed appreciation for the innovations it brought to the World of Warcraft universe.
