Witcher 4 Takes Priority Over Witcher Remake & Cyberpunk Sequel

Jul 15, 2024 10:37 AM

CD Projekt Red fans should prepare for "The Witcher 4" as it's the furthest along in development among the studio's projects. The highly anticipated game, also known as Polaris, is set to enter production later this year. Though CD Projekt Red is working on several projects, including a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and various Witcher titles like Project Sirius and Project Canis Majoris, The Witcher 4 is currently the main focus. According to Cyberpunk 2077 sequel director Pawel Sasko, the other projects are in their early stages, so don’t expect to see them anytime soon. The Witcher 4 has amassed a dedicated team of 407 members as of April 2024, reinforcing its priority status within the company. Meanwhile, The Molasses Flood team is contributing to the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel under a new Boston-based studio.

When will The Witcher 4 be released?n

The Witcher 4 is currently in the early stages of development and is expected to enter full production later this year. Given this timeline, a release date is still years away.

Background: The Witcher series, developed by CD Projekt Red, gained immense popularity with the release of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" in 2015. Known for its rich storytelling, complex characters, and expansive open world, the game has set high expectations for its forthcoming sequel. CD Projekt Red also ventured into the futuristic RPG genre with Cyberpunk 2077, which, despite a rocky launch, has built a dedicated fanbase.
