Winnie-The-Pooh Creators Unveil Avengers-style Movie Crossover in Blood and Honey Universe

Mar 18, 2024 4:00 PM

In a major move within the horror movie genre, Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have announced their ambitious crossover event, Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, set for release in 2025. This project aims to merge various iconic but twisted fairy tale figures into one cinematic experience, akin to Marvel's Avengers ensemble films. Characters such as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, and other public domain figures like Peter Pan and Bambi will unite under a shared horror theme.

The creators of the film Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey have drawn inspiration from crossover classics like Freddy Vs Jason as they build up to this larger narrative. The "Twisted Childhood Universe" will incorporate elements from their other projects, including Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung, embedding Easter eggs within each standalone film to tease the upcoming crossover.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield, known for his direction of Blood and Honey, will direct this new crossover event. Familiar faces will return in production roles, with actors from the original films reprising their monstrous roles to join forces in a high-stakes, conflict-ridden tale.

What movies will be part of the Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble?

Characters from Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Pinocchio Unstrung, and yet-to-be-announced titles featuring Sleeping Beauty and The Mad Hatter will form part of the Poohniverse. These films create a shared world where these horror-inflected versions of beloved fairy tale characters exist and interact, leading to the climactic crossover event.

Extra Background: Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey took a children's classic and turned it on its head by reimagining the characters of the Hundred Acre Wood as villains in a slasher-style horror film. The move to create an entire horror universe from public domain children’s stories is an innovative approach to the genre. Upcoming films like Bambi: The Reckoning, bend the original tales further, redefining characters and narratives deeply ingrained in popular culture. As these stories are well-known globally, there's significant potential for both fan curiosity and critical engagement with such a radical reinterpretation of classic material.
