Dec 11, 2023 4:09 PM

Gamers and film enthusiasts alike have reason to be excited as actor Mark Wahlberg confirms the script for "Uncharted 2" is already completed. While there has been no official announcement regarding a sequel from Sony Pictures, Wahlberg's comments in an interview shed light on the development of a potential follow-up to the 2022 hit that brought in a whopping $139 million during its opening weekend globally. Hints were dropped about Wahlberg's character Sully retaining his iconic mustache throughout the upcoming installment, providing a stronger tie-in with the character from the beloved Naughty Dog video game series. The first "Uncharted" movie, starring Wahlberg alongside Tom Holland, served as a sort of prequel to the action-packed gaming franchise. Fans may recall Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman declaring "Uncharted" a new film franchise for the company, while producer Charles Roven has expressed eagerness to further explore the cinematic adventures of Nathan Drake and Sully.

Is an "Uncharted" movie sequel officially in the works?

While there has been no official word from Sony Pictures about an "Uncharted" sequel, developments such as Mark Wahlberg's interview discussing a written script and previous interest from Sony executives and producers hint at the potential for an "Uncharted 2" movie.
