The First Descendant Drops PS4 and Xbox One Support

Mar 06, 2025 2:18 PM

Nexon has announced that it will cease support for The First Descendant on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting June 19, 2025. This decision comes as the developer seeks to enhance overall player satisfaction and maintain the game's growing scale. The third-person looter shooter, which launched last year, attracted 10 million players initially but has seen a decline in active users, averaging 8,227 concurrent players on Steam in February. Players on the older consoles will be able to transfer their progress to other platforms through cross-save features. The game had previously faced scrutiny regarding similarities to Destiny 2's iconography, which led to design alterations.

Why is Nexon ending support for The First Descendant on PS4 and Xbox One?

Nexon is ending support to improve player satisfaction and manage the game's growing complexity, making it difficult to maintain builds for older consoles.

The First Descendant is a free-to-play looter shooter set in a sci-fi universe that offers cooperative gameplay and character customization. Upon its release, it garnered quick attention and an impressive player base, but its sustainability across older hardware has raised concerns among its community. The game's development has been focused on modern consoles and PC to deliver richer content and enhance gameplay experiences.
