Take-Two's Strategy: Timing Releases for Player Satisfaction

Feb 13, 2025 9:58 AM

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be released on September 23, 2025, during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast. With this release date now set, the timing for Grand Theft Auto 6 has come into question, especially since Take-Two aims to avoid the risk of cannibalizing the success of its big titles. CEO Strauss Zelnick stated they will plan launches to ensure consumers have ample time to engage with each hit game. This has left fans speculating when GTA 6 will drop, with possible windows ranging from October to December 2025, or even as late as early 2026. Zelnick also noted that, despite a poorly received Borderlands movie, the franchise remains robust and continues to drive interest.

When will Grand Theft Auto 6 be released?

The release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for fall 2025, but with Borderlands 4 scheduled for September of that year, fans might expect GTA 6 to debut in October, November, or December 2025. There is also a possibility of a delay into early 2026.

Borderlands is a popular looter-shooter franchise known for its unique art style, humor, and engaging gameplay. The last major title released in the series was Borderlands 3 in 2019, which received positive reviews for its expansive world and cooperative gameplay. The Borderlands franchise has a dedicated fan base, and despite setbacks like the movie adaptation, its upcoming fourth installment is highly anticipated by gamers.
