Stardew Valley 2 Possible, But Updates Are Easier to Do

May 08, 2025 11:00 AM

Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, the creator of the beloved farming simulator Stardew Valley, hinted at the possibility of developing a sequel, Stardew Valley 2. However, he noted that it is easier to update the existing game rather than start anew from scratch. Barone expressed that the established systems in Stardew Valley make it more enjoyable to add whimsical elements like "green rain." Currently, he is focused on another project, Haunted Chocolatier, and isn’t rushing to release it as he aims to make it even better than Stardew Valley. The impact of Stardew Valley, praised as both an incredible farming game and a genre-defining masterpiece, continues to resonate with players, especially following updates like the recent 1.6 additions.

Will there be a Stardew Valley 2?

While Eric Barone mentioned that he might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2, he has emphasized that creating new content for the original game is currently more feasible and enjoyable.

Stardew Valley was released in 2016 and quickly became a phenomenon in the gaming community, praised for its charming pixel art, engaging gameplay, and the ability to restore and manage a farm. The game has received numerous updates since its launch, continually introducing new features, crops, and quests that keep the player base invested. With millions of copies sold worldwide, it has secured its place as one of the best indie games ever made, leading to high anticipation for any future projects from Barone. Haunted Chocolatier, his upcoming title, aims to match or exceed the high standards set by Stardew Valley, although details on its features and release date remain limited.
