Sony Picks Up Silent Hill: Ascension for Weekly Episodes on PS5 and PS4

Sony Pictures Entertainment secured a deal to host weekly episodes of Genvid’s interactive streaming series, Silent Hill: Ascension, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the Bravia Core app for Bravia TVs, and Xperia app on select Xperia smartphones. PlayStation owners can enjoy the audience-influenced storylines via the Sony Pictures Core app, formerly the Bravia Core app, which Sony recently extended to include a curated catalog of ad-free films for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The premiere of Silent Hill: Ascension is set for 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern on October 31 on the mobile app or the official Ascension website. The official blurb describes the project as a "mind-bending, interactive journey as they follow the complex lives of two families in peril, linked by unnerving visions and terrifying monstrosities that hound them to the brink of damnation."

Silent Hill: Ascension was announced in October 2022 as a choose-your-own-adventure mini-series. The audience participating in the stream's chat will collectively take decisions that will "impact the canon of Silent Hill." Genvid CEO Jacob Navok clarifies that Silent Hill: Ascension is “not a game”, but an interactive streaming series that will evolve based on the audience’s decisions. The creators have claimed that even they do not foresee the series' end.

"Participating in Silent Hill: Ascension each day means you’ll be part of history that will never come again," Navok noted. Silent Hill: Ascension is one amongst several Silent Hill projects underway, including the remake of Silent Hill 2, two spin-offs, and a new film.
