Season 2 Confirmed for Gen V, the Spinoff of The Boys
Oct 19, 2023 7:24 PMGood news for fans of The Boys spinoff Gen V: Prime Video has announced a second season renewal. The decision comes as the series' eight-episode first season is progressively released, with its finale expected to air on November 3. Gen V further explores the universe of The Boys, focusing on Godolkin University where the next generation of heroes are trained. However, true to The Boys' tone, the university scenario still brims with wild superpowers, corporate conspiracies, and plenty of gore.
The cast features actors like Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. The first season also saw numerous The Boys actors reprising their roles, including Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman, and P.J. Byrne as Adam Bourke. Jensen Ackles is also slated to appear as Soldier Boy in Gen V's inaugural season.
Gen V premiered on Prime Video on September 29. IGN rates the first three episodes a solid 9/10, with reviewer Matt Donato noting, "Gen V exists at the crossroads of contemporary teen sex comedies, ruthless The Boys tomfoolery, and ambitious shock-and-awe excellence that fans deserve." The renewal of Gen V comes as fans eagerly anticipate news on The Boys Season 4. While the show was given the green light shortly after Season 3's debut in June 2022, there have been no updates since Showrunner Eric Kripke reported in June that the release of the fourth season would depend on the duration of the WGA Strike, which ended last month. So while viewers await further updates on The Boys, they can catch Gen V and dive into our breakdown of last week's biggest plot twist.
