The TV adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles, which was originally cancelled by Disney, has found a new platform on Roku. The exclusive U.S. rights have been acquired by Roku, with plans to premiere the eight-episode series in early 2024. Disney had nixed The Spiderwick Chronicles and another show, Nautilus, despite both shows being fully filmed. This led their creators, Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television, to seek a new outlet, eventually striking a deal with Roku. The series, starring Christian Slater and Joy Bryant, is a thrilling adventure sworn to captivate viewers, according to Brian Tannenbaum, Roku Media's head of originals. Paramount TV Studios president Nicole Clemens also expressed excitement about the series finding a new home on Roku, and looks forward to introducing audiences to the enchanting world of The Spiderwick Chronicles. This isn't the first live-action adaptation of the series, as a feature film was released in 2008.
