Roblox employees are given choice between working in the office or dismissal
Oct 19, 2023 9:15 AMEmployees at Roblox Corporation, the company behind popular online game, Roblox, have been given an ultimatum to either work at the office at least three days a week or face termination, reveals an open letter addressed to staff by CEO David Baszucki. Employees who are currently working from home are given until 16th January 2024 to choose between the two options. If they decide to return to the main office in San Mateo, it will only be required from 15th July 2024 onwards.
Relocation expenses will be covered by the company, if necessary. Baszucki emphasizes that office-based work, especially for new employees, facilitates "learning through social contact". This comes after the company had shifted to fully remote work during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Baszucki asserts, "Ultimately, Roblox is an innovation company and we need to have human contact again while working." Exceptions are made for roles where it is crucial not to be office-based, like those in data and call centers.
Those opting for termination will receive a severance package based on their level and contract terms, including half a year's paid health care. Recently, Roblox was launched on PlayStation consoles, gaining significant success. More information on the game can be found [insert link or information source].
