Apr 30, 2024 1:26 PM

The iconic trading card game Magic: The Gathering is set to release a new crossover set as part of the Secret Lair collection in Spring 2024, featuring virtual popstar Hatsune Miku. Wizards of the Coast will launch the first of four planned sets on May 13, with each set to showcase a different season, starting with Sakura Superstar, highlighting Japan’s cherry blossom festival. The Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar set will contain six special trading cards, including renamed reprints of existing Magic: The Gathering cards inspired by Miku's themes. Fans can look forward to titles like "Miku, Lost but Singing" and "Miku's Spark." Prices are set at $30 for the standard version and $40 for the foil variant. With this collaboration, Hatsune Miku joins fellow gaming characters from the likes of Tomb Raider and Fallout in the Magic: The Gathering world. The remaining sets will be released throughout the year.

What is the cost of the Magic: The Gathering Hatsune Miku crossover collection?

The standard non-foil edition of the Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar set is priced at $30, while the foil edition is $40.

For additional background, Magic: The Gathering, created by mathematician Richard Garfield and published by Wizards of the Coast, first hit the market in 1993 and has since become a staple in collectible card gaming. Hatsune Miku, a virtual sensation developed by Crypton Future Media, uses Yamaha's Vocaloid software and has become a global phenomenon, famous for her digital concerts and a plethora of user-generated music. This crossover is a unique fusion of digital pop culture and the intricate world of fantasy card gaming, bringing together fans from both realms in an exciting new collection.
