Fans of the influential 90s video game Outcast have reason to celebrate as a playable demo for Outcast: A New Beginning is now available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This much-anticipated sequel to the original Outcast, known for its detailed voxel graphics and open-ended gameplay, is set to fully launch on March 15. Players once again take on the role of Cutter Slade, tasked with saving the planet Adelpha from a robotic invasion. Outcast: A New Beginning is expected to deliver a third-person action-adventure experience, complete with fast-paced action, diverse landscapes to explore, and jetpack-fueled travel. THQ Nordic, having acquired rights to the Outcast franchise in 2019, is behind the new installment, continuing where the original developers, Appeal, left off before going bankrupt.

When is Outcast: A New Beginning being released?

Outcast made its mark in 1999 for its innovative use of voxel technology to create its world, setting it apart from other games of that era. It was developed by the Belgian studio Appeal and quickly gained a cult following for its unique blend of science fiction storytelling and freedom of gameplay. The original title was critically acclaimed for pushing the boundaries of 3D environmental design and has since been remembered as a classic. Despite its status, the sequel was put on hold due to financial issues, making the release of Outcast: A New Beginning a significant event for fans who have been awaiting its arrival for over two decades.
