Phil Spencer, in a recent episode of the Official Xbox Podcast, underscored Xbox's commitment to maintaining "100 percent content parity" for the popular series, Call of Duty, across all gaming platforms. Despite the completion of the Xbox and Activision Blizzard merger, he affirmed that Xbox has no intentions to make Call of Duty an Xbox exclusive. "The players on PlayStation and in the future on Nintendo... I want you to feel 100 percent part of the community. I don't want you to feel like there's content you're missing out on, skins you're missing out on, timing you're missing out on," Spencer stated.

Apart from confirming no platform-exclusive betas for Call of Duty, he also reassured that there would be no exclusive content earmarked for Xbox players, maintaining the 10-year-old deal with Sony to keep the game on PlayStation platforms. While acknowledging potential technological discrepancies between individual platforms, Spencer focused on fostering community spirit among gamers, regardless of their choice of platform—specifically criticizing previous exclusivity deals PlayStation had with the franchise.

Spencer also dismissed rumors suggesting Xbox might leverage Call of Duty to push Xbox console sales: “We have no goal of trying to use Call of Duty to try and get you to buy an Xbox console,” he affirmed. The debate over exclusivity of Call of Duty was a significant part of the conversations surrounding the Activision Blizzard merger throughout 2023, with outgoing PlayStation president, Jim Ryan, expressing concerns over possible bias towards Xbox in game availability. However, Xbox continued to assert that the game would not be made platform exclusive.

During the podcast, Spencer further discussed a number of other issues such as the non-availability of Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass in 2023 and the assessment of Xbox's management of revisiting franchises. Meanwhile, Activision is proceeding with the usual preparations for launching Modern Warfare III, the beta testing of which ended on October 16, setting the stage for release on November 10.
