PC gamers furious at Sony for blocking God of War on Steam

PC gamers in regions without access to the PlayStation Network (PSN) are frustrated with Sony for blocking the sale of single-player games such as God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn on Steam. Despite the recent announcement that these games require a PSN account to play, players in countries without PSN services are left out. Sony's decision has sparked backlash, especially since previously, only multiplayer games like Ghost of Tsushima required PSN. PSN is currently available in only 69 countries, excluding areas like the Baltics, which include EU states such as Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Sony's justifications relate to player security and community building, but the community remains dissatisfied. Sony’s strategic approach aims to attract PC gamers to buy a PlayStation 5 by releasing console-exclusive sequels later on PC.

Sony requires a PSN account for these games to enhance player security and community integration, even though these titles are single-player. This policy aims to protect players from negative behavior by enabling the banning of perpetrators and offering the banned players a chance to appeal.
