Despite recent attempts to stabilize the servers, the launch of Payday 3 has been riddled with issues, with difficulties persisting even in the aftermath of implemented fixes.

Officially released on September 21 with early access for Silver and Gold edition owners, server stability has been problematic since day one. The scenario worsened upon full launch, with severe matchmaking outages plaguing the new release from the following day. As Payday 3 is primarily a cooperative game, a functioning matchmaking service is crucial, making the outages even more disrupting for players.

These problems culminated in the complete shutdown of matchmaking across all platforms later in the day, which severely affected players' plans for their weekend gaming sessions. The Payday official Twitter account was busy providing updates throughout the day, although much of the news was unfavorable.

Matchmaking was eventually restored and gameplay resumed, only for issues to resurface later in the day. Server disruptions persisted through the weekend, leading many players to abandon the game altogether.

The latest reports confirm that the matchmaking services are back up and the development team is working toward stabilizing them to prevent future problems. However, the ongoing issues have left a sour taste for many gamers. At present, the game's user review rating on Steam stands at 'Mostly Negative', with 67% of nearly 24,000 reviews offering a negative opinion, mostly focusing on the server problems and connection issues.

Payday 3, which has outset cross-play support on all platforms, is available on Steam, PS5, and is a day-one Game Pass release for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Despite the struggles, the small team behind the game, comparatively small by Triple-A standards, continues in their effort to resolve the ongoing issues.
