Path of Exile 2 Dev Surprised by 1 Million Players in Early Access

Dec 06, 2024 11:06 AM

Path of Exile 2 is gearing up for its Early Access launch and expectations are soaring, with over one million concurrent players anticipated. Grinding Gear Games co-founder Jonathan Rogers expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, but also concerns about potential server queues. The game, which is currently the top-selling title on Steam, could strain backend services as player numbers rise. Rogers noted that despite increasing cloud capacity and database shards, the team is unsure how the servers will perform under such demand. Players can begin their journey in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast, where they can choose from six character classes, each featuring two Ascendancy classes, as they work to combat corruption.
