Outcast: A New Beginning dazzles with Adelpha cultures

Jan 28, 2024 9:15 AM

THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for "Outcast: A New Beginning", a game that invites players to explore the diverse cultures and locations of the world of Adelpha. The title, set to launch on March 15th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, sees the return of protagonist Cutter Slade, who must save Adelpha from a robot invasion. "Outcast: A New Beginning" promises to deliver third-person action-adventure gameplay reminiscent of the original Outcast. This game, celebrated for its voxel graphics and open-level sci-fi setting, initially released in 1999. THQ Nordic acquired the franchise in 2019, following a canceled sequel by the original Belgian developer Appeal due to bankruptcy, and a remake of the first game, "Outcast: Second Contact", by Bigben Interactive in 2017.

What is "Outcast: A New Beginning"?

"Outcast: A New Beginning" is a third-person action-adventure game where players take on the role of Cutter Slade to save the planet Adelpha from an invasion. It is a sequel to the 1999 game "Outcast" and is scheduled for release on March 15th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The original "Outcast" was a pioneer in open-world gaming thanks to its advanced voxel engine and freedom of choice in gameplay. As an early example of non-linear gameplay and a rich sci-fi narrative, "Outcast" has gained cult status over the years. Its influence can be seen in the design of subsequent open-world titles, emphasizing player agency and exploration. "Outcast: A New Beginning" aims to continue this legacy with modernized graphics and mechanics while staying true to the spirit of the classic game that has captured the imagination of gamers for decades.
