Ori-studio Reveals Boss Battle from No Rest for the Wicked

Feb 19, 2024 3:11 PM

Moon Studios, the creators behind the critically acclaimed Ori series, has revealed a new gameplay video for their upcoming action RPG, No Rest for the Wicked. The footage showcases a detailed boss fight, offering a glimpse into the game's darker and more realistic art style compared to the Ori games. Set in the year 841, after the death of a king and his arrogant heir taking the throne, players will find themselves in a world threatened by the resurgence of a plague known as the Pestilence. The protagonist is a Cerim, part of a group of holy warriors with special powers determined to fight the plague while navigating political intrigue. No Rest for the Wicked emphasizes precision combat and promises an "epic saga" with its hand-crafted world. The title has been in development for around six years, marking it as a passion project for the studio. It's set to launch initially via Early Access on Steam, with plans to eventually release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, following a delay to the second quarter of the year. A digital presentation is scheduled for March 1st to unveil more details about the game.

When can I play No Rest for the Wicked, and on which platforms will it be available?

No Rest for the Wicked is set to launch in the second quarter of this year through Early Access on Steam. Later on, it will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Moon Studios is an Austrian-based independent video game developer founded in 2010. They gained significant attention with the release of Ori and the Blind Forest in 2015, followed by the sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps in 2020. Both games were praised for their beautiful hand-painted artwork, emotional storytelling, and challenging platforming gameplay. No Rest for the Wicked marks a new direction for Moon Studios, transitioning from the magical forests of Ori to the gritty and politically complex world threatened by a catastrophic plague.

Moon Studios' shift to a darker art style and more complex narrative from their Ori series has definitely piqued my interest. Can't wait to see how they've balanced precision combat and immersive storytelling in this new action RPG.
