Aug 19, 2024 8:31 AM

Nintendo has announced a Direct focused on the upcoming Nintendo Museum set to open in Kyoto, Japan, later in 2024. Scheduled for August 19 at 3 PM PT, the livestream will offer a quick tour of the museum, but fans should manage their expectations as there will be no game announcements or updates regarding the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch successor. With the original Switch approaching its eighth birthday, speculation about its successor, often referred to as Switch 2, continues to build. Nintendo has confirmed that the next console won't launch until at least April 2025, and details suggest it may feature backward compatibility with older controllers and Joy-Cons.

nWhat can we expect from the Nintendo Museum?

The Nintendo Museum is expected to showcase a wealth of Nintendo memorabilia, including a vast array of hardware and software from the company's storied history, offering fans a glimpse into Nintendo's rich legacy as a gaming pioneer.

The original Nintendo Switch, released in March 2017, revolutionized the gaming industry by blending home and portable gaming. With a lasting impact on gaming culture, the Switch has become one of the best-selling consoles worldwide, making the anticipation for its successor even more significant as fans look forward to enhanced features and improved performance.
